Sorry for the late post...

Juat remember that ethernet (10BaseT which is most likely what you'll be
using) has a length limit of 328 feet. Also, the cable you will use to
hook one computer to another without a hub needs to be a crossover
cable. Not a problem since you can buy them at CompUSA (or such) for
about $12 but it won't work when you get a hub. And if you ned to hook
up more than 2 devices you'll need a hub.

The Epsin 850 has a parallel port that you can use with a parallel to
USB cable adapter, about $45. The serial port on the Mac will work in
conjunction with another device in the parallel port. But the parallel
port will be a little faster than the serial Mac port. Epson also sells
an Ethernet card for the 850 (about $350) but if you order the printer
eith Ethernet installed, it's a lot cheaper.
