One thing is what characters are forbidden in filenames, another is what is
wise. The OS won't accept illegal characters, but worse are those that are
accepted by the OS.

I would be cautious about "extended ascii" including characters like
ÆØÅÉÑÖÄÜ etc. Those might not show up right on your side, which is my
point..

In Norway it is a problem with some backup packages that skip files and
entire trees of folders in folders with Norwegian characters in their name.
Do some tests before giving that "Impørtant database" folder such name.
Also, does the filenames show up correctly on both Mac and PC clients?
