[WinMac] updating our network...please help!

I need help with our network, Here’s the scoop:

We want to dump AtEase and Appletalk and go exclusively for IP communications.
We have an NT Network (with lots of Macs, all flavors, and PC’s) and as I see
it have two options:

FIRST: Pull our old MacServer (7250/ASIP 4.2.1) out of our network and go with
NT Server ONLY to connect to our fleet of Mac Computers. IF we do this:

1. CAN we still run Apple’s “Network Assistant” or something like it?

2. What desktop security would you suggest? Foolproof? Alternatives?

3. SHOULD we purchase Thursby Systems “DAVE”, and WHY?

OR....SECOND:

Buy a G3 Server and ASIP6 connect our 100 or so Mac’s to it.

Are there any ADVANTAGES of getting the G3 Mac Server over using an NT Server
to run the Mac’s? (We own an NT server already)

We are fully prepared to dump AtEase, but we would (again) like something like
Network Assistant for our teachers and techs to use.

I need to make a recommendation to our board of ed by Friday afternoon.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sincerely,

Al Sills

ps...have I forgotten anything?
