[WinMac] Network hangs

Hello, everyone. We have a small network with one Compaq Proliant Pentium
Pro (160 meg RAM) running NT Server 4.0 SP3 with a Compaq NIC and two 3Com
Super Stack II hubs (a 12 and a 24 port). Client machines are mostly Macs
(running 8.1 with AppleShare 3.8) and some Windows clients (running Windows
95) and two printers, HP 4MV and Tektronix Phaser 380. From time to time
(ranging from twice a day to once every few days) the network hangs. No
Ethernet traffic moves at all--no internet connection, no printing, etc.
None of the computers including the server misbehaves in any way when this
happens. Unplugging the hubs from AC power (they don't have an on/of
switch) always fixes it. Do I blame the hubs themselves or is something
else at fault? I have found no correlation between any event and the hang.
I'm not sure where to start. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
