[WinMac] Quark's PostScript [WAS: Mac printing to HP LaserJet via NT]

        Ian:

The problem is QuarkXPress, not PostScript. QX makes undocumented calls to
the LaserWriter 8.x (PostScript) driver, and this is the root of your
problem... Not the hardware RIP in your printer.

Now that Adobe owns PageMaker as well as PostScript, Adobe also tries to
provide whatever competitive advantage it can to its' own page layout app.

This is quite similar to the "Browser Wars:" M$ IIS servers "break"
Netscape browsers (and vice versa!).

 ------

In addition, you'll have even more problems RIP'ping Quark files to a
printer (such as a LexMark) that has a PostScript "emulator..." The
buzzword to be wary of is "PostScript interpreter."

        Cheers!
