My experience w/ system 7.5 is that I can "see" bigger volumes on servers.
 The only caveat is that they are always listed in the folder header as
having 1.9 g. It would be interesting to see if I actually can't see some
of what is going on. It is just a directory tree anyway isn't it?

        That info is out of date. As of MacOS 8.0, you should be able to
see any size volume - assuming that SFM is correctly written.
