Re: [WinMac] MS exchange server encoding?

We ran into the same problem: the "theory" that we concocted
was full of exceptions but it seemed to fit out limited data set.
Note that this has to do with Mac clients sending PC Outlook
clients enclosures.

If the file is a MS file (ie Excel, Word, etc), it doesn't seem
to matter: the file makes it through OK (coincidence?)

If the file is not MS:

AND if the file does not have a resource fork when it starts
off on the mac, it also seems to go through OK.

BUT, if the file has a resource fork, look in

HKLM\Software\MS\Exchange\Client\Mac File Types

If the corresponding file type, creator code, and DOS-style
extension is there, the file will download OK. If the entry
is not there, the file will get downloaded in MacBinary
form (.bin). Our original problem was that Stuffit Expander
for Windows 1.0 didn't seem to handle MacBinary decoding
correctly; Aladdin Expander 2.0 does.

We ran into problems with ClarisDraw and Canvas because both
of these files could have resource forks when the originate
on the Mac (but not guaranteed).
