.

I do not appreciate the tone of some recent posts regarding comparisons
between AppleShare IP 6.0 and NTS with Mac services.

Specifically, Dan Schwartz' simplistic and rude post struck me as lacking
nuance and in general being quite unhelpful to anyone trying to assess the
pros and cons with either platform on a rational basis.

For ourselves we have a smaller network with a dozen NT boxes, a couple
of NT servers and three PowerMac graphics stations.

Because of NT's shaky Mac Service functionality I am thinking about a
G3 server and I would recommend anyone with a majority of Macs on the
network to do the same.

NT has its strengths but also a number of weaknesses that should not be
glossed over.

My G3 PowerBook should arrive in a week - wouldn't dare buy one that
runs NT. No one knows how NT5's power managment will turn out - and
when...

Just a few comments.

Thanks for the time.
