I was just thinking of the letters and not all the other characters :)

Yes, the line endings are different. There are several shareware apps which
change the line endings for you. I use Tex-Edit. And just tell it using a
menu selection, to change the text document from Mac formatting to DOS
formatting and it then changes the line endings from CR to CR/LF.
Tex-Edit has the selections to change from Mac to DOS, Mac to UNIX, DOS to
Mac, UNIX to Mac.
When saving, do a Save As and select Plain Text for the file type. Real slick.
