The folks at Infowave told me recently that they were introducing
a new version of the cable (even newer than the one that plugs into
both serial and ADB). Talk to them, maybe it'll be bidirectional.

There's lots of USB-parallel stuff coming onto the market, maybe a
serial->USB->parallel or PC-card->USB->parallel skywire would serve?
