Outlook 8.0.1 is available for Macs (PPC and 68K, System 8 compatible).
You can download the client from the Microsoft Web site at
<ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/exchange/exchange-public/fixes/Eng/Exchg5.5
/SP1/Mac/>. Although I've never used the previous versions, I understand
that this version is a substantial improvement.

What I can say is that it is only moderately clumsy as Mac software. For
example, the program exits when you close the last window (like Windows
programs), so you can't leave it running in the background with no
windows showing. You can use the process menu to hide it, which sort of
works. Overall functionality seems similar between the Mac and Windows
versions (including the fact that the email personal address book and
calendar contacts database are entirely separate and don't
communicate--sheesh!).

I've also used Meeting Maker from On Technology, which is a nice program.
