You should check to make sure that the switch/hub that you're plugging into
isn't auto-sensing the port speed. I've seen some cards that will no
auto-sense to 100mbit/s with certain hubs. It you set the switch port to
100mbit/s manually, the cards might have an easier time finding out which
speed to use. While you're at it, you may want to set the duplexing on the
switch manually, too. Of course, if you're just using a dumb hub, then this
is all moot. :)
