Actually, Windows programs can understand pict files perfectly well, it's
just that some programs need them to be labelled .pct and some need them to be
labelled .pic, and some, such as SuperPaint pict files need to have Quicktime
3.0 open them up.

(This from personal experience... Corel Draw didn't do it, admittedly it was
an old version, but it postdated my SuperPaint 3.0, Phgotoshop LE didn't do
it, I had to open it qith QT Picture viewer and cut'n'paste it in)

It really depends on your final output resolution...I would stick to EPS or
TIFF files myself, otherwise you get jaggies all over the place.

JPEG and GIF are ok for screen resolution, but if they have to be printed, I
use TIFF and EPS.
