        Peter,
I have some suggestions for you.

First, recreate your header and footer in Adobe Illustrator.
Illustrator has a feature which will convert text to outlines,
effectively creating vector art which looks like the text you were
using. This will get you cross platform artwork (be sure to check it
and make sure the letters are not "fat" converting to outlines will
slightly change the appearance of your text.

Second, buy a software postscript interpreter for you PC fax. I
use one from Xenographics which works pretty well for this. The
interpreter handles the Postscript in software the way a Postscript
printer does in hardware. This is not a very fast solution, but by
setting up your fax printer on the PC to first run through an
interpreter, you should get better results when you fax postscript.

Third, contact Microsoft to complain about the quality of
Postscript previews in Word. They are hideous and they should fix it,
but they think the world is happy with WMF and BMP support so they don't
put enough effort into supporting high end graphics like EPS and TIFF.
