I've never used ClarisDraw but have had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing
with Canvas all too often. It to is a PICT drawing program instead of a
PostScript drawing program like Freehand and Adobe Illustrator. PICTs and
bezier curves just don't seem to get along well. Most of our users who
submit Canvas files for slides in PICT format get jaggy curves but if they
export out as an EPS then they are nice and smooth.

If ClarisDraw can export an EPS then you _might_ be able to bring that into
Illustrator. I'm not a big Illustrator fan either only because it's more
difficult to work with then Freehand but I've used it to convert an EPS
file from an old DOS version of Quattro Pro. Once in Illustrator I can
then work with each object or export it again into Freehand, the drawing
program of my choice.
