How is Netatalk's speed? I did some testing with KAshare where we
sustained 35 Mbit throughput on 100BaseT using the Apple File Protocol
over IP. Is Netatalk comparable? Does Netatalk support Appleshare over
IP or is it and Appletalk only solution at this time?

One of my wish list items is to switch from using Appletalk to TCP/IP if
at all possible. Appleshare IP 6 won't integrate with our network
structure. I like to direction NT is going, but NT 5.0 Appleshare IP
support is only an unconfirmed rumor at this point. If there is a
better solution, I'll take it. I am a little skittish about running
Unix servers because of the support overhead, particularly ones which
are not from established software vendors, but if Netatalk is as good as
KAshare and free or even near free I would have to take the option
seriously. Has anyone integrated a Unix/Netatalk/Samba server with an
existing NT Domain structure? Is their any chance of using the same
directory services?
