Printer Ram needs?

In a small office we have a PC and a Mac sharing an Apple laser writer
printer throurg a eithernet hub.

The printer often gives a low memory messages on smallish text files
when printing from the PC.

>From the mac I queued up 12 copies of 12 400k illustrator documents with
some of them having photoshop images in them, now whilst this wasn’t the
fastest thing in the world it did the job.

I guess the mac and pc put different demands on the printer?

Can anybody describe to me why/what is happening.

ps. I’m putting a little more ram in the printer.
