MSExchange - Does It hate Macs?

I've got a problem trying to get Mac EMail clients to talk to Microsoft
Exchange running on NT4.

Microsoft Outlook can send mail but not retrieve it, It just sits there
telling me it is "Getting Authentication Method". I've checked settings
and this is happening on the three macs inhabiting an otherwise PC network
Eudora doesn't work either
Or Netscape Communicator (but I expected that)
