The info at www.apple.com says the port is a localtalk port. this may or
may not be serial port (one would think so, but... ??). Can you print to
your printer from a mac when selecting a printer or modem port in the
chooser and a direct connect cable (like an imagewriter or stylewriter
uses), or must you use a "normal" laserwriter driver and localtalk
connectors?

If you can print to your printer via the serial port (eg, the modem port
rather than the printer port) or using a direct connect cable, then maybe
you can print to it from a PC. When printing to a laserwriter's serial port
from a PC, I've always needed a "null modem" serial cable (available
anywhere, but wired differently than a normal (usually used for modems)
serial cable). In addition, you'll need a cable (or cable and adapter) that
goes from the PC's normal d-shell serial port to a round, mini-din 8.

An interesting project... :-)
