#... and would like to
# use a single PIM on both platforms if possible. I've been hoping that
# Eudora's update of NUTD (Eudora Planner) would be a solution. #
Alternatively, I've been wondering about a Filemaker Pro-based PIM.
Filemaker works quite well on both platforms. Best performance is to
buy the server (lists for $1000 last time I checked) and run it on NT.
Every client will have to have a copy of Filemaker (lists for $200, last
time I checked). And then there are development costs if none of the
freeware stuff on the Filemaker site is adequate. The beauty of
Filemaker is that you really can design a user interface that reflects
your unique needs.
If you have a relatively small number of users or fast machines or are
willing to put up with the slowness, you can serve from the $200 version
as well.
You can also Web-enable Filemaker 4, so theoretically it's possible to
have a browser-based PIM running from only one copy of Filemaker that
talks to a web server... to me browser-based seems the most exciting
possiblity, although Filemaker's web pages aren't ready for prime time
right out of the box.
Is anyone using or considering intranet web browsers for this sort of
thing?
