Dave is not all that bad, and has some very nice features. It is a
simple install, you need to know a little about NT networks to really
get it to run smooth, and there are a few things they still need to fix.
For instance, if you are using user-level access, there is no THE WORLD
option for sharing a folder, so you can't have a share folder accessible
to ANYONE, they need an account, in my environment that is not ideal,
since I have many users that log into the domain AND users who just
log-in to the network (no domain account). But I have also successfully
shared files and printer services using DAVE. Dave also supports AUTO
mounting NT voumes on boot-up (just like the appleshare network) and you
have options of forcing a NT login when the machine boots (kinda sorta
maybe like Windows 8-)..)
I had only one bad file sharing instance and what happened is that the
file I copied to a windows '95 shared folder ended being invisible to
the mac...go figure 8-)....
