Tim,

Try having the sysadmin take ownership of that directory then reapply
the permissions recursively. The fact that the sysadmin can do the copy
when ordinary users can't almost certainly implies a permissions problem
of some sort; if it was a caching issue, I would think everyone would be
affected by it. Just out of curiosity, have you tried logging in as you
on the sysadmin's machine?
