Not sure what would cover all her needs, but I'm using Virtual PC
version 2, which I run on a 220Mhz G3 Mac clone. The box was originally
a UMAX SuperMac J700 -- 180Mhz 604e, but I recently installed the
bottom-of-the-line NewerTech G3 upgrade. Makes a big difference. I don't
do a lot of work in Windows-less than 10% of work. Mainly I use it to
test web sites using Windows versions of Netscape and Microsoft Internet
Explorer. But I understand from others that it handles applications
quite capably, so long as you have a fast enough processor and a decent
amount of L2 cache. The one thing I was *not* able to run under Virtual
PC version 1 (haven't tried it on the new version) was Bindview EMS, a
network auditing application that makes some extremely low-level
hardware calls that I would not expect any emulator to be able to handle
properly. But otherwise Virtual PC and a fast Mac have been a good
solution for me. Right now I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade from
Windows 95 to 98.
