On WinXP (may be 2000 also) You need to go to My PC->Properties with your
left mouse button.
There go to the advanced options tab and press the config button on the
start and restore section.
Press the edit button and it automatically open the boot.ini file which
contains a number of installed OS for your computer. Just delete the line
you don't want to show at start in the section [Operating Systems].

Asunto: [WinMac] Editing or deleting dual boot startup.

I have been doing some experimenting with installing Win2k Pro and Win
XP on separate hard drives on my computer. When a second system exists
on the computer, I get a boot prompt as to which system to boot from.
All is as it should be so far, but as I have done this on a number of
occasions and after each time I re-format the partition for the second
drive. The boot prompt lists slavishly the entire history of Win systems
that I have installed on my second drive and no longer reflects the
actual systems or lack of systems on my computer. How can I edit or
delete this boot prompt file? It apparently doesn't reside on the MBR
(Master Boot Record) as do Linux dual boot managers such as LILO and
GRUB, as a boot from a Win 98 SE floppy disk and the execution of "fdisk
/mbr" at the command prompt doesn't get rid of the boot prompt file as
with LILO or GRUB. How do I get rid of or edit this file?

Cheers,

Brian
