Really, the best way to go is with OS X server. Not only will you get Unix reliability and speed, but you won't have to worry about third-party extentions on your macs, and you will (if you so choose) be able to manage your OS X boxes using NetInfo.

Subject: [WinMac] connecting Macs to Unix servers

We're currently using a WinNT server and connecting our Macs (OS9 and eventually OS X) via SFM. However, we're looking to upgrade our server and are considering a Unix server for throughput but not sure what the best way is to connect Macs to it. I believe there's a NFS for Macs but is that the best way to go or can I somehow setup AppleShare on the Unix server?
