your network? Supposedly, this "FireNet" software is just the answer . . . see:

All you need is a firewire port and ethernet port on any computer that is attached
to the network and it may serve as a bridge (software/hardware) to make all
peripherals on the network accessible to the network . . . or something
unbelievable like that.

If the entire network is using the firewire ports to connect, then you are
networking at 400 Mbps, with no normal latency, other than the speed of whatever
unit or device is communicating on the network.

Not being a techie, I don't know . . . but sure looks and sounds good.
