Hi again,

I have a problem that I have not as of yet been able to solve. I have an
Apple PowerBook 1400 that will not power up properly and stay powered up.
I understand from the Apple dealers that I have talked to here in
Jakarta, that parts are not available for the power supply in Indonesia
and may not be available at all. This issue would probably be able to be
solved by other means like a replacement power supply, but as I am not
near any Apple Center, nor do I want to invest money on the PB at this
time, I simply want to copy the files on the hard disk.

I would like to have them copied to a drive that I can use on the PC that
I am having built (as I am migrating to Win anyway). I believe that the
drive could in principle be FAT formatted, as long as the files have not
lost their resource forks. (On the other hand most of the files are cross
platform Word (2001) files, MP3 files, etc. so maybe the resource fork
isn't an issue.) The problem is trying to hook up the PB 1400 drive sans
PowerBook to some PC hardware so that the files can be copied. This needs
to be fairly straight forward. My experience is the tech guys here aren't
as good as in St. Pete (Russia) or in Denmark or the US.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

Brian
