[WinMac] Apple printer on Win box.

Hi again,

I am in the process of having a Win box built and would like to share the
monitor and printer with my UMAX Pulsar (Euro S900), until I get all my
files transferred over to the PC (and maybe for longer than that). My
printer is an Apple Multiple Scan 15AV Display, and my printer is a
Personal LaserWriter NT. I am using OS 9 on my UMAX. I understand that
sharing a monitor is in theory quite easy. I just need to purchase a
monitor switch and 2 super-shielded cables to connect to the UMAX and Win
box. Does anyone have any experience with using this kind of
configuration with Win 98 SE? Are there drivers for this monitor already
in Win 98 SE or do I need to use a different driver to get this to work??

The Win box that I am having built uses an Intel D845BG motherboard (see:
http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/bg/
index.htm?iid=ipp_dlc_deskmb+p4pmb_D845BG& ), which has both native USB
2.0 and serial and parallel ports. FireWire will also be available via a
3 port FireWire card) Since both my UMAX (USB 1.0) and the Win box will
have USB (2.0), is there a way I can either share the printer via USB,
FireWire (possible hot swap by using either USB or FireWire as the UMAX
also has a FireWire card) or some sort of parallel to Mac serial splitter
cable to the printer. I believe that Win 98 SE has drivers for the Apple
LaserWriter NT. Another possibility could be to share the printer between
Win 98 SE and the UMAX over my LAN, but this WOULD be a temporary measure
as I will be phasing the UMAX out eventually, even though I almost can't
bring myself to do it :-(

I hope this wasn't too much rambling. Anybody with ideas is welcome to e-
mail me offline. Some may notice that I am not including Linux in this
configuration (I have mentioned Linux in other postings), but I don't
believe that Linux can handle something this exotic. I may try to install
Mandrake Linux as a dual boot on the Win machine at some later point, but
not now.

Cheers,

Brian
