Yeow! You have a problem. Replace the hard drive before the drive fails,
because it's getting ready to grenade.

There are two ways to map out a bad block on the Mac: Low level, when you
format the drive; and file system level, which is what NDD does.

When you format the drive and check for bad blocks, the bad blocks are mapped
out in the hardware itself, i.e. HFS & HFS+ don't even know they are there.
These bad blocks are "grown" onto the factory bad block list.

On the other hand, when NDD checks for and finds bad blocks, it marks them in
HFS or HFS+ as being "in use."

If you believe that it's a small problem, back up and perform a complete low
level format, "scrubbing" for bad blocks. Then, install the HFS+ file system
and run NDD; and you'll see that the bad blocks are no longer there. If you run
NDD weekly and don't see any more bad blocks, then you're OK. If you come up
with new bad blocks, then drop the hard drive like a hot potato.

            Cheers!
            Dan
