    a) Mostly yes. b) No.

    Yes, you can RAS in and access your mail. I've done it, and it works well.

    This version of the Outlook Client for Exchange Server will co-exist nicely
    with Office 2001. However, it depends on a three shared libraries that the
    Office 2001 "Office First Run" program removes as outdated and superfluous.
    Back up all the Microsoft shared libraries installed on a given system
    before installing Office 2001 on a machine that already has Outlook.

    Last I heard, the new version of Outlook was still six months away. Can
    anyone confirm this?
