    No it wouldn't!

It would add administration overhead and headaches, along with the
additional cost of buying and deploying NT server, and buying an NT
server box to replace what _already_ works. Then you have to move all
the users, permissions, and data from the appletalk server to the NT
box, and make sure everything still works.

Remember, this is a box designed to be a testbed for beta software.

<sigh> %%@$# NT zealots and their 'one hammer uber alles' approach.

NT will install fine over Win98, subject to the caveats of which Dan has
    spoken.

I agree with him...the best bet is to back up everything, wipe the drive
and install NT on a fresh machine, restore the data and programs.

The Laserwriter can be used by the PC's by getting ACITS LPR driver for
the Win98 boxes, or using LPR on the NT and printing directly to the
printer. Once an NT box is set up you can make an LPR connection to the
LaserWriter and then share that to the NT boxes.

    Link to ACITS:

But what the heck, if attaching the parallel cable doesn't pose problems
logistically(meaning you don't keep tripping over it), don't fix what
    ain't broke.

(my golden rule of network maintenance)
