If you are using an OEM CD, all you need to do is rename WIN.COM to WIN.XXX
(or whatever - just name it something you will remember) and then run the
Win98 install. It works - we do it all the time!
The Win98 upgrade path you mentioned is not entirely reliable (as far as I
have heard anyway) but I do agree that a FRESH INSTALL is the best way to
go...
