The parameter RAM (PRAM) that is maintained by the battery, maintains
video drivers, amongst a variety of other things. Unfortunately, when
you reset it, it does not reset ALL the settings in PRAM including
some of these settings. I found this out a few times when I swapped
out monitors.
Take out the battery and leave it out for about 10 minutes or so.
Also reset the 'cuda chip' (if your computer has one-not all of them
do). Look for a small round black disc about 1/4 inch in size on the
motherboard which depresses slightly on touch. Leave it down for a
few seconds. That resets the motherboard as well.
