It is normal for third-party extensions that work by patching traps
to break with a new release of the MacOS, especially something like
SpeedDoubler which patches the OS so extensively. Virex has been
buggy from the start, and it could be argued that it has never been
completely stable. And as for ATM, it was making file system calls
which Apple had been discouraging for a long time.

But the good news is that updates to almost all of these extensions
(except SpeedDoubler/RAMDoubler) were made available *for free* when
OS 9 was released or soon after.
