Quite true... But some of us have to look at total cost of ownership,
including things such as OS initial and upgrade cost. You yourself know
this as an ISV: After all, what would your stock price be if everything up
to now was a free upgrade from Stuffit Deluxe 3.0.7?!

I was merely pointing out that since System 7.5.x, there have now been
four $99 System 7/MacOS "updates." The one that *really* pissed me off was
the "elevation" of System 7.7 - A collection of System 7.6.x bugfixes - to
MacOS 8.0. C'mon, Apple simply stuck a few shareware apps (including the
"appearance" "borrowed" from Aaron) and they have the nerve to charge $99
for the privilege of swatting bugs.

BTW Peter, speaking of cöoperation, Aladdin hasn't been very cöoperative
in even attempting to fix the user access lockout bug in DropStuff 5.0 for
Windows when running in NT4 while being logged in as anyone other than
Administrator. I ran every test that was requested, and all your support
people could do was shrug their shoulders...

        Yours truly,
        Dan Schwartz
