I just installed OS9 (English) over my previous OS8.6 Japanese
system - with the new Japanese support enabled in the installer.

(I have to have Japanese support but couldn't wait for OS9-J.)

After going in and moving the 3rd party extensions, prefs, control
panels etc from their previous Japanese named folders into
the corresponding English version, and a restart, I now have
my slew of 3rd party stuff back and running.

Six different Adobe apps, the entire Office suite, and about 20 or
so other apps. No problems - it didn't take long either.

'Someone' on the list asked about the value of the Mac vs. NT...

My experience with NT says that after a major upgrade like this,
I would have been forced to reinstall ALL non-OS apps.

Installing an English version of NT over a previous Japanese
version and retain use of 3rd party stuff would be just about
impossible - the NT installer flat out refuses.

I hope the above shows the value with the Mac !
