[WinMac] OS 9 Question

A previous question of how to lock down an elementary school lab came back
with many people telling me to upgrade to OS 9.

Currently the lab consists of 20 Power Mac 5400/180 computers with 40 Mb of
RAM and System 7.6.1 and a Mac 9250 server with System 7.6.1 and Web and
File Services running.

Are the machines going to work well with OS9 and will I have to upgrade the
server too? Or will I be able to lock down the desktop settings without
using the server to handle logons and etc?
