Douglas:

One way to rescue any text that file might contain would be to take
it to a Mac, and use BBEdit (the lite version is free) with the
CanOpener Text Extractor (freeware). They're available from the URLs
below.

This won't get you any graphics, and you'll need to rebuild any
formatting the original file may have had, but you should be able to
get all the text it contains.

There IS a ClarisWorks for Windows. I know a couple of people who use it.
