Hi
I have a Macintosh running Claris e-mailer, recently connected to an
NT-hosted e-mail system. Each time I check the mail, I get the same set
of several hundred messages dating back to April. Our IT staff will not
support Macs and will not load Mac-specific software on the NT server(s).
Does anyone recognise the problem? Is there anything I can do at the
client end to ameliorate it?
TIA, Erin

You have two options:
1) Switch to a mail program that supports IMAP. Outlook Express is free, but
it has a REALLY klugy IMAP interface. Eudora Pro 4.2 also supports IMAP, but
I've never used that facility.
2) Use the Macintosh Exchange 8.2.1 Exchange client.

OE and Eudora aren't the only game in town...
Netscape 4.6.1 supports IMAP nicely, and does server-mail filters, which
OE can't
Mulberry is another fine email client that does IMAP. <http://www.mulberry.com>
Also PowerMail, (can't remember the URL)
Finally, OE's IMAP interface is a little odd in 4.5, but 5.0 fixes most
of that.

OE 5.0 may well fix some of 4.5's IMAP oddities, but it's not out yet...
