I am authoring cross-platform technical databases using FileMaker Pro on the
Mac. Two Mac symbols will not reproduce on the Windows side and I am
looking for a fix. Using a quotation mark for inches and using the
less-than-or-equal-to symbol produces some interesting mystery characters
when viewed on the Windows side. The fix has to use standard keyboard
characters readily available on both platforms without the need for special
fonts. Any ideas??

Well, I would start by filing a bug report against FMPro -=20
that's pretty stupid on their part to not deal with this internally!

Well, a non-smart quote ' - will work just fine on both=20
platforms. And for less-than-or-equal-to, use the two characters=20
next to each other (<=3D) as done in standard programming languages.

Would you be better off using an actual "inch" symbol, from the
respective symbol fonts on each platform? A quote mark suffices
when no proper symbol is available, but both platforms do have
common symbol fonts that, I believe, include the proper characters.
(But, can you access characters outside the standard text encoding
with a call to such a font?)

Has anyone used KeyServer from Sassafras Software to meter/monitor software
usage and licenses on their network?
