Does anyone know why when I put mac files (htm) onto a PC formatted
disk and move them to a PC it forces Uppercase.
How could I stop this happening without stuffing the files first and
unstufing them again.

Just out of interest, how many people actually use their defective CDs as
coasters.

I have freaked out a number of my friends by serving their hot/cold beverage
on a CD. The trick, I guess, is not to mix up, say, your Garth Brooks with
a failed backup.

Yes, I look forward to Tost 4.0.

Is anyone out there burning QuickTime movies etc to a DVD that can be played
on a normal DVD player? Do you need an MPEG encoder to do this? And what
software you using?

Cheers

Um, what exactly is the difference between Garth Brooks and a defective
CD? Sorry, couldn't resist. He recorded a song one of my friends wrote,
so I guess I should be nicer.

I tried to use AOL CD's as coasters... Until one of those pesky holes left a mark on my coffee table! :)

Using "Allow Macintosh Names" worked!! Though I found that it's best to make all the Mac file names in lowercase when making cross platform HTML files.

Actually, I don't use those as coasters, I use AOL CD's as coasters...I get sent enough of 'em, and they're always changing the 'cover' art so I have a variety.

Mixing up the Garth CD with the coasters is difficult around me...I'm one of those anal types who thinks that a cd lives in two states only: in the drive or in the jewel case. I work with someone who just piles his cd's up loose all over the place. It makes my skin crawl. <shudder>

I went scrounging at Adaptec's site yesterday, and they had no details about Toast 4 posted, not even an announcment. What I was going on was a bit on either Macintouch or MacNN's site.

God no. You have to reinstall NT and make it a "stand alone" server. This is such a pain in the a**.

MacFixIt.Com is pleased to announce the opening of a new Cross-platform: Macs & Windows Forum.

John Rizzo is the "guest host" of this Forum. For the next month, he will be answering your questions (along with the rest of the MacFixIt Forums staff) about cross-platform issues.

John is the creator and editor of MacWindows, a site focused specifically on getting Mac OS and Windows machines to work together. (There's a little Linux coverage, too.) MacWindows provides daily news, tips, how-to tutorials, and product listings. Topics include Mac/Windows NT, OS emulation, the cross-platform use of files, and networking. His recently released book, "Macintosh Windows Integration" (Morgan Kaufman Publishers), delves even further into all areas of Mac-PC integration. Rizzo wrote the BackPanel column in MacWeek magazine (the paper version), and was an editor at MacUser magazine for 7 years.

The focus of MacFixIt.com (http://www.macfixit.com) is on troubleshooting tips, hints, work-arounds and solutions, news about documented bugs, conflicts and problems with existing versions of popular software and hardware. Announcements of new and/or updated products related to troubleshooting Macintosh systems is included when relevant.

Stay tuned for more new Forums opening up later this month also.

Thank you for your support of MacFixIt.com.

If MAC user's login to NT server, they can access all NTFS directories.

How can I restrict mac user's directories/files for each user profile?

I have no problem setting these to Windows 98, I can restrict user directories/files but when they login using mac they access everything.
