If you're using Gnome, then i'll assume you're taking about RedHat 6.0.
(SuSE 6.1 also recently came out, and includes KDE *and* Gnome.)
Eh, but i'll stop before i start expounding on the joys of Linux.

You can install the Appletalk module on the Novell sercer so that it runs
the protocol from there. Or you can get the Netware client from prosoft
engineering (http://www.prosofteng.com/) which I believe is an extra $50
per client.

As with most things Microsoft, their solutions work (and sometimes they
don't) ONLY if you are running the latest version of Windows. Their lack
of support for other platforms is unbelievable, especially on a solution
like a Web Server (IIS) since the web is the one place where it shouldn't
matter what platform (or software) you are running. It is this attitude
mainly what makes me shun a lot of their products.

Sorry, I use Claris Emailer, but I used Eudora about 4 or 5 (?) years ago
and seem to remember something similar. Maybe I was thinking of the MIME
attachments then...

In the latest release of Outlook for Macintosh, v8.1, which I just
finished installing on my iMac moments ago, the calendaring component is
installed by default, unlike previous incarnations.
As with the previous version, you can view calendar items across
platforms, but they are read-only.

I've not tested this, but I suspect that forms will work provided that
Office 98 is installed (which includes Visual Basic for Applications)
and as long as the form contains no ActiveX controls (which would be
Wintel-specific binaries).

Yesterday I sent a couple of emails with some errors (by the time I get
home and read my mail my brain is mush).
1. it's not MAPI (for a mail client) but rather IMAP. I forget what the
acronym stands for (too many acronyms in our industry).
2. I kept reffering to Linux 6.0 when I was trying to say RED HAT Linux
6.0 (thanks to Bruce Johnson for pointing that out).
Sorry about these 2.

Hi All,
Over here in the UK we're still waiting for our company to get ahold
of OS X. One of our bods has been sent on a 4 day training course
and should be bringing it back with him.
However, I can't get any clarification on a couple of points and Apple
seem reluctant to return my calls.
So, can anyone answer the following.
1) I know Sendmail 8.9 is shipped with OS X. However, does it come
with POP3 or IMAP support so that users can log in from their
desktops and collect mail. If so what software/daemon does it use?
2) Does is come with any utilities/features to allow collection of
e-mail from ISP's using POP3 or does it require an SMTP feed?
If it needs an SMTP feed, has any one tried compiling software like
fetchmail on OS X to get around this problem?
Feedback appreciated.

Dunno if it does or not, but if not go to ftp://ftp.cac.washington.edu/imap/
and get the Washington University IMAP server. There may or may not be a
precompiled version there yet, but compiling it shouldn't be hard. We use this
one (under Digital Unix) and have never had any problems. It supports both
IMAP and POP3 protocols.
