So are you saying that you cannot go from SP3 to SP5 directly? I have heard
way too many stories about SP4 and would like to avoid it if I can...

Is there a trick to setting up VirtualPC to dial up my ISP?

I followed the instructions on pp. 25-26 of the printed booklet for
the VirtualPC Version 2.0 Addendum. I can get it to dial up my ISP,
but it does not successfully negotiate a PPP connection. Of course,
I have no trouble connecting on the Mac side using the latest version
of OT and PPP with OS 8.6 on a G3.

(Sorry for the newbie question.)

I solved my own problem.

I got a PPP connection to work in Virtual PC by disabling TCP/IP in
the Mac by setting the Mac's TCP/IP control panel to AppleTalk
instead of PPP.
