Hi Dan

Thanks for your help - they were FAT, so I changed them to NTFS, however,
things are still not right - read on. I created a new profile called TEST,
saved some files and observed they were in the
WINNT40\PROFILES\TEST\PERSONAL\ directory and restarted the machine. When
I logged back in under the same profile, the files were gone!! Should I
just re-format the drives - what do you suggest?

A couple of weeks ago, I returned from a road trip to find my NT server DOA.

(I use the NT mostly for Macintosh file storage and print services.)

I replaced the power supply and the machine rebooted, seemingly ok.

I then found that the machine would freeze up (No mouse or keyboard entry)
after 2 to 4 hours of operation.

The local Microcenter repair shop has given the machine a clean bill of
health as far as hardware is concerned.

I have recovered all my data...

Before I reformat the hard drive and reinstall NT up to SP-5, I'm wondering
if there is anything obvious I should be checking?

The problem is that I so rarely have to delve into the inner workings of the
NT beast that I forget what little I've learnt about maintaining it.

Cheers,
