[WinMac] 2 irritating problems with NT shared drives on Mac

Hi all,
There's been 2 long-standing problems we have with Mac clients
connecting to Shared Drives on NT (Services for Mac volumes):

1) While working on web sites, saving HTML files in BBedit (and other
editors) frequently gives an Error -61 file cannot be saved because
it's in use. We're pretty sure it's because the NT web server has
recently sent the page and is still 'grabbing on' to the file. This
error does not occur when we view the files from the server via
file:// in the browser, so that's what makes us pretty sure it's the
web server's fault (however we must view ASP files via http so we run
into this problem a lot). Our only workaround is to save as a new
file name and then delete the old one and rename the new one....
quite a pain.

2) Most of the shared drives windows are set to icon view and setting
them to list view is not saved when we next go to the drive. This can
be quite a pain to continually change everything to list view. We
have discovered that when the system admin logs in from our macs, his
view settings are saved. Also, if a user creates a folder then they
have control over the view settings, but no one else does.
Is this just a limitation of NT sharing? It seems ridiculous to have
to track down the creator of a folder just to save the view. These
are shared drives so if you can write to the folder you should be
able to save the view.

I have looked for answers to these but haven't found anything. I'd
like to know at least if these are problems that are bothering other
people.

Thanks a lot,
George
