You are going to want to kick yourself: :) (I did)

I did a web search for HIMEM.SYS SWITCHES and found the answer in about
twenty seconds (or less)

The answer is in a file named MSDOSDRV.TXT in the c:\windows directory:

  DEVICE=[drive:][path]HIMEM.SYS [/A20CONTROL:ON|OFF]

Okay, here's a fun one. I have a PC laptop that keeps giving me A20 line
errors when I try to boot off of a floppy. (Logitec's mouse driver
update managed to completely hose win95. No safe mode, no command line,
nada) Tried to install win98 upgrade, no go without himem working.

Does ANYONE, (dan?), have handy a list of switches for himem.sys? I
distinctly remember one for A20 line troubles, But I can't remember what
it is.
