[WinMac] Re: some comments on list operation

As a lurker, I elected NOT to complain - if I'm not an active
participant or contributor, I should shut up. But this is a list and
by definition, there are a lot of members who are not active voices.
So I think I will comment. The list seems to now be about one-third
question/answer & the rest is a running game of platform
one-upsmanship. I thought the very name of the list would have
precluded this. Ah well, I've been wrong before.

If it keeps up, I'll unsubscribe. Voting with my feet...

Points to think about:
01) Are people who might participate alienated/intimidated by the
current "tone" of the list?

02) Are solutions/fixes being withheld because they may not stand up
to the "rigorous scrutiny" of verbally forceful participants?

03) Is this about solving each other's challenges, sharing knowledge
& experience, opening avenues of cooperation? Or not?
(There I go being idealistic again - thought I solved that a couple
decades ago)
