I would rather have my epitaph be one that was honest and forthright,
profanity and all, in six foot granite letters, than have one that was
full of glorious prose, yet had nothing to do with who I was. I have
never said anything that I was afraid to have announced in the papers.

After seven years in the military, I learned two kinds of respect. The
one worth having, the one that meant something existed outside of
language and opinion, and is extremely rare. The other one fusses over
appearance, yet substance goes by the wayside.
