The problem is that MS Proxy Server 2.0 either supports it's
proprietary client that only runs on Windows or the industry standard
SOCKS protocol. By default the proprietary client is turned on and
the SOCKS protocol is disabled. Once you enable SOCKS support you
can use it with no problems.
It also supports and CERN compliant web browser. You may be
able to use either MSIE or Netscape as an ftp client through the
proxy server.

I suggest checking out http://www.macwindows.com/ and
browsing their solutions pages. There are several high quality
products listed that achieve the same results that Proxy Server does
for both platforms equally.
