Bill,

With a Mac, never stick to the original installation (OS 8.5). An
update (OS 8.5.1) or two to fix many initial bugs nearly always follows
quickly after the original. And the update is nearly always better than
the original.

I don't know if the update will help in this instance . . . but it
probably won't hurt.

*** A couple of other things . . . Corel WordPerfect is a cool program.

1) Corel has provided at least 4 free updates to WordPerfect for Mac,
now at least to version 3.5.4. If you haven't upgraded, now is the
time. It may solve your problem. <http://www.corel.com> I think this
is the place.

2) Unless you have the correct conversion filter that will import your
image into WordPerfect, you may need to 1st convert your graphic to a
picture format (or .pic) on the Mac side before trying to insert.

In conjunction with the Mac built-in clipboard, and if you have the
application JPEGView (or many others that will do the job), you can open
a JPEG or .jpg or several other formats I believe into JPEGView and then
copy to the clipboard (which I believe makes a copy as a picture). Then
simply paste onto the WordPerfect document -- I believe it will paste
in whether you are in graphics mode or in WordPerfect word processor
mode or any other mode that can be pasted into.

There must be a thousand ways or paths (many paths anyways) for you to
get that image into WordPerfect. The insert method may be giving you
trouble, but there are plenty of other methods to try. Be persistent
and remember how you did it when you finally get it done. Every step
may be important.

Since I like, but don't often use WordPerfect 3.5.4, I have been
experimenting with getting graphics into WordPerfect since your post.
The insert method seems to be the least reliable (due to missing filters
or conflicting filters), but drag and drop from the Scrapbook utility
worked very well, as did the copy and paste method.

If you paste a lot of graphics into different apps, there is a fabulous
Mac utility called "CopyPaste" version 4.2.2 or later (OS 8.5.x
compatible). Although there are several other very good Mac
application/utilities in this category, this one application could give
you cut and paste bliss/nirvana. It may take you a little effort and
time to learn to use its finer features, but even on its simple level it
is a profoundly useful tool.

Hope this helps . . .

Kelly

PS

It is a good idea to keep a bookmark to the update page at Apple.

You can get started in that direction from here . . . <http://www.apple.com>
